Some playgroup pressies

These little pressies are ready for our Playgroup Christmas break up on Wednesday. We (the mums) decided it was our turn this year and that we would be the recievers of the gift so $20 limit on the mums, $5 limit on the kids, left me with a dilema, $5!!! What's that buy, a tee is about it so I prettied them up. The scarf is silk merino in Sarparella 8ply from Fibre Works, gorgeous stunning yarn. I have 3 beaded bracelets to go with this for my recipient.

Well things are busy as always around our house but I managed to finish off some woolly goodness,

for me a scarf in 4 Bags Full merino

A hand knitted then felted bag in Bulky BFL from JollyJumbuck, this bag has been filled with yummo coffee and chai tea especialy for a lady who is having a rough trot at the moment, hopefully it help cheer her up a bit.

Some more clips for the lady who scored the merino wool last month, with 7 children and number 8 on the way I figured some stocking fillers would not go astray, gorgeous Christmas red, these looked fab.

And last a couple of squares. The knitting group I belong to on Ravelry are contributing to some wrapped in love blankets for some members new babes, these are my contribution until after Christmas now and then I will get stuck into some more.

Our vegie garden is off and running, we have a few things ready and the rest will be ready to harvest very soon. I am so excited to be growing our own food, it is very satisfying and the flavour 10 times better than the bought stuff.

I had a bag to give away as well as what is listed today, but, my Ma has claimed it for her Christmas pressie and that's OK, so maybe a bag next month if I get time.

100 gramms of hand dyed 22 micron 100% wool. Aran weight, we recommend 4.5mm needles or 7mm for a felted bag.

This was the bag, I slightly changed my pattern to make an adjustable strap as I am short and needed it to be adjustable had a tall person nabbed it, will try again next month for a freebie bag.

The awesome Tingara spoiled my little ones with her unbelievable generosity this week, he was quickly named "Jack Rabbit" apon his presentation to the mights. He was introduced to kisses, cuddles, bike riding and wizzydizz by ear.

We were also lucky this week and had this dropped off for the kids new play area, he will be loved and thank goodness it will feed their want for a horsie!!!!!!

Last one for this week, I decided to give it a burl and make our own cordial, OMGosh, it is THE best cordial I have ever tasted, yum yum yum!!!! Tried it out on people as they visited today and it got the golden seal of approval by all who tasted it, including my 4 year old son who it really is for, glad he likes it now I will be only making it myself. I waited for drinks to be requested, made it up and didnt say it was home made, everyone did the same, slammed it down and then a second later as the taste hit their mouth they would say awesome cordial what brand is it!!!!! MINE.

A Cotton Rainbow Dress and fair trade choccie

This turned out super cute, it was crochet cotton from spotlight and I hated how it knitted up, but washed and blocked it fused together really well. A lady from AP bailed me a couple of weeks back and asked me to knit this for a friend of hers that just had a bub. So I was happy to ablige, she asked me today what she could get me in return, so quick thinking never to let an opportunity slide asked for a block of fair trade choccie, fair trade what????? So was able to give her a quick run down and where she could buy it and gently told her why we as a family buy it and that perhaps she might like to give it some thought and research it a bit herself!!!!!! So now another person knows lets hope she keeps buying it now she knows the reasons and where to purchase it from. MMM sorry, The Dress

Paiges Turn for A Rainbow Dress

I gifted a Corriedale Tikki Rainbow dress at playgroup about a month ago and one of the other little might's flicked her hair over her shoulder and strutted off in disgust when she witnessed my giving away of this. (no action shots yet but her mum promises me)

So I proceeded to make this as a surprise for her, this is her dress and response. I think she likes it!!!!!!

One of my friends really put some thought into getting me a house warmimg gift and what she came up with is awesome. A hand made rolling pin made from solid red gum wood and oiled (literally rolls whatever you are making for you, I just need to guide the thing it is soooooo heavy and matched my redgum cutting board really well.) I also invested in a bread maker this week LOVE LOVE LOVE it. More homemade in the house now yippeeeee. I shouted myself an awesome ceramic water purifing system a few months ago to put on the bench of the new house, got it all out today and set it up so my kitchen looks home sweet home. All completely hand made, dish cloth from Bendigo Woollen Mills 100% cotton knitted by me of course, hand made cutting board that I recieved as a gift awhile back, hand made rolling pin and home mmade bread mmmmmm, not home made but better than plastic water bottles a ceramic water system, it all lookes fabo.

My Mum and I have had an online store for about 2 years now and I am at the point where I don't enjoy it. Most of our customers are fabulous and we love them and they love our stuff, but, of late people have come to annoy me for various reasons so until Mum is settled in her new house and we feel otherwise I don't want to make stuff and set up shop for people and waste my precious time and the kids time to just muck me around and have the hide to try and blame Mum and I for their ways. So I am going to knit things to give away when I can. I will post on my blog when I have something and this is the first. I think I would really enjoy this more at the moment and that's what it is about for me, not the money, just to enjoy creating and have people enjoy our creations.

I knitted this for my dot of a daughter and it is huge on her, so this will be my first blog giveaway. Hope it finds a new home!!!! Would suit 18-24 months.

I have been blog lazy. We finally moved into our house, woot. So much has been going on but I managed to finish off these lovelies.

My swap item finished and ready to go out. The Australian Knitters 100gramm challenge. I am sure my swapee will love this. Hand knitted bag in 22 micron merino, felted. Needle felted embellishment.

A frilly butt soaker for Chiara and a New Born Shoaker for a friends bub yet to be born. Worsted 10ply merino from Dyelicious, the soaker club.

And last a bag to send my Oktoberfest woolly gift to it's reciever in. 200+ gramms of 22 micron merino in pink colourways. Hand knitted bag in purple colourway 22 micron merino, felted. The swapee loved it.

HAPPY 4TH BIRTHDAY

It was my little mans 4th Birthday during the week, so hansome, so happy and so getting big!!!!

We had a ninja turtle/super hero training camp party. Complete with an obsticle course, pizza cake (ninja turtles live on pizza you know) and just all round heaps of fun. The day was warm enough for us all to get outside and run around and have a blast, HAPPY BIRTHDAY B-MAN

I made up a cake to look like a pizza, a new family sized box was supplied by the local pizza shop to serve it up in and 10 small boxes saw his little party guests taking home some treats too. They recieved a few lollies, some home made playdough and one cutter for the dough.

All good parties lead to tiredness!!! Chiara loves a bottle now she is weaned, can you tell?????

I have been trying to catch up Chiara's scrapbook. Gosh the 2nd child can be ripped off a bit, Brodee has 3 gorgeous books completed, ohh well, we will get there. Anyway these are two of the four pages I will be doing from her 1st birthday party. Sweet baby girl.

We are so close to moving into our new home, really only a matter of 2 weeks if we push ahead. I have been building this house for 2 years, yes thats right, 2 years. I didn't want to stress over it so just did it bit by bit, project by project. These photos are 12 months old but you get the idea, will take current pics tommorrow. We have water views all round and a nice 2 acre block around the house for me to get all organic and grow vegies, and have chooks for eggs, can't wait, well I can really, no hurry!!!!!!! The kids will love it, they can run and plant vegies with me, we will have heaps of fun.

Long time no blog

I have been having a bit of a break from the forums, crafting and the net in general and just concentrating on getting the kids organised and making a priority of my book work. I found myself rushing to get the kids done and my work so as i would have time on the net and once I made the decision to cut back my frustration levels came down and a weight was lifted from my shoulders, I just have a quick cruise these days.

My post today is that I am going to challenge myself to get rid of cling wrap in the home and use wax paper lined bags and tupperware only. I have also unloaded the dishwasher for the last time and will only hand wash dishes for a period of no less than 6 months to see how I go. My decision on plastics is obvious! but my dishwasher decision is 1/ a challenge and 2/ yesterday after lunch I went to pack the dishes and the dishes from breakfast were the most sickening rank smell in the whole world and nearly made me vomit, I would suggest this is due to the heat, we have only had a dishwasher for about 2.5 years and last summer wasnt so hot here due to the huge fires in the area keeping the sun out, so I had not experienced this foul phenonenom (sp) before and will not ever again THAT I will make sure of.

Will post in a week to state how the dishwasher less Dipalma household goes and the cling wrap once I source some tupperware, peace out!!!!!!!!!!!

BUSY BUSY BUSY

We recently had a visit from Nanny and it was so much fun, we knitted up a storm for Miss C, she found herself the lucky owner of a gorgeous new pinnie that Nanny bought down with her, nanny also knitted another one during her stay, along with 3 Punk Knitters soakers, a combined effort on a frilly butt, I finished a soaker too. Nanny also knitted a shrug and hat out of the dashing I did my frilly butt in and of course the infamous Anouk completes the set as it too is knitted from Dashing wool.

The colours are really hard to capture, they are just gorgeous, knitted in bamboo from Spotlight

We had a photo session out the front in the flowers, glorious day!!!!! We did playgroup, parks, cooking and knitting, lots of fun.

And last but not least, Miss C with her Nanny, take note C is in a shrug and dress knitted by her Nanny,(insert lub smilie)

We have been really busy in this household but have managed to get the shop stocked ready to go for the Friday.

I also managed to finish off the soaker I started for Miss C

My son loves to help Mummy bake so we made these cupcakes over the weekend, I baked them on Saturday and we decorated them today, they taste as good as they look, yummo.

To help save the environment we do the following in our household,

We use modern cloth nappies (insert big smile)

Forget the days of terry squares, although some still love a line full of fresh crisp white terry's, todays cloth nappies are funky, fun, so so easy and heaps cheaper than sposies, waaaaaaaaaay more cute than sposies (disposable nappies). Nappies can also have knitted wool products put over them. My mum and I have a little shop that we sell some woollies in.

I also have used cloth breast pads this time around and cloth liners/menstrual pads, I can tell you right now, once you use cloth you will NEVER use disposable womens products again, just heaven against such delecate areas of the female anatomy. Available in the most gorgeous of fabrics, mmmmmmmmmmmmm bamboo valour!

For more info on womens products visit this place. extra mmmmmmmmmmmmmm cloth for me! After using cloth myself I think my kids must love it on their bums.

Now last of all, we turn off things at the wall when not in use, we dry our clothes by the suns rays, we dont use much fabric softners, we recycle and we compost our garden and kitchen wastes.
